Default 2004 A6 2.7T maintenance

Hey guys, I am just wondering what maintenance is necessary for this model 2.7T?

I do my regular oil change, but @ 175000km, whats necessary to keep the car running properly and keep the HP's?

And second, I have a small concern about the transmission. When I start the vehicle in the morning and start driving after 30 seconds or 1 minute, the transmission doesnt shift from 1 to 2 for while. After driving it for 1-2 minutes, then the tranny shifts properly and smoothly. Would you guys know why?

Without knowing the full maintenance history we can only give you suggestions. My first suggestion is to get a Bentley Repair manual for that car. You can find them for sale on the web. Depending on the tranny model they did have problems with 1-2 syncros. If that is the problem and the shifting progressively gets worse than you are looking at approx. $2K parts and labour to fix that. I would suggest getting it in to a tranny shop to check out and at the very least replace filter and fluid.

At 175K was the timing belt done?

How is the car running now besides the tranny issue? Are you taking care of the turbos by warming up and cooling down for a few minutes?

I would recommend a transmission service every 100K to max 150K KMs. The Tiptronic Trans not shifting from 1 to 2 during winter cold for the first minute or so of driving is normal.

I'd replace the Rear Diff Fluid and Power Steering Fluid at your mileage. Flush the DOT4 Brake Fluid every 2 years regardless of mileage.

Sounds like a TB Kit is due in the near future. I would recommend replacing 2.7T TB Kit every 100K KMs especially if ECU is chipped etc.

The maintenance is based on vehicle hoisted inspection including suspension rattles, any fluid leaks, cracked CV Boots, test for intake pressure leaks etc. Bentley website has a Service Interval List for your engine so that you know when Audi recommends to change basic service items such as spark plugs and air filter.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips. I asked around and I found out what was said here, the tranny is fine and the cold 1 to 2 shift is normal.

I did change my timing belt at 125000km. I did the complete service at Audi which cost me 2400$. I chipped my ECU @ 173000km, which is fairly recent.

I am taking care of my Turbo. I dont drive hard in the morning until I am sure the engine is worm and I normally wait before turning the engine off and drive slowly after a hard run.

Ill take it in to replace the Rear Diff Fluid and Power Steering Fluid and also Flush the DOT4 Brake Fluid.

From what I understand you don't really need to flush the power steering fluid as it's a mineral oil that will dissipate over time. You just have to check the fluid level regularly. At least that's what an Audi tech told me. I topped mine up not too long ago, which is the reason why I asked about it. But then again Audi says never to replace your transmission fluid but I call that bullsh*t. Replacing the rear differential fluid is critical though. Just be sure to check that your car is level and that your fill plug comes off before I try removing the drain plug!
