'01 A6 2.7T Fuel Consumption
Just wondering what other people are getting with this engine? Mine is a quattro and averages almost 16 l/100km (15 USmpg) with mostly city driving which appears to be quite high consumption. Anyone else have similar? Thanks.

Why is no one willing to share this information? Doesn't anyone care what their mileage is that they are getting from their car? It isn't just a matter of economy. I think it is an indication that something may be wrong mechanical and a sypmtom to be watched as to the vehicle's health.
Come on people, let be honest and share, good or bad!

Re: '01 A6 2.7T Fuel Consumption
My 2003 A6 has been upgraded with K04's and a 3 to 5 bar adjustable fuel pressure regulator, when I turn down the fuel pressure the ECM MPG counter shows very poor mileage, (average count goes down to low 18's) when I turn up the pressure it shows better, (average count goes up 19.6 and still climbing?), I believe the reasoning for this is the ECM has to make up for the lower fuel pressure by lengthening the injector pulse... since I have the K04's and more air available I like running the higher fuel pressure, (has more power under full throttle) and doesn't seem to change the MPG under normal driving, (18-19 highway/city). I did think a 2.7 would get better mileage though....

The mileage that I indicated is actual calculated value and not from the ECM. I check at each tank that I fill and based on the distance traveled on the odometer. From what Captncarb is saying, there appears to be something definitely wrong to comsume so much gas. Any ideas or similar experiences???

When I said a 2.7 should do better I was in reference to both our cars, my 18-19 MPG is highway/city driving and would fall considerably if city driving. Ensure you don't have any codes also as that will consume more fuel. Our cars are thirsty for the following, Quattro, Turbo's, high RPM's. the gearing is fairly low with 2200ish at 65 MPH.

Nothing77.....That would be exceptional unless it is mostly highway driving. My Honda Civic gets only 10l/100km in city driving. If what you say is true, then there must be something wrong with my car BIG time! What I do is mostly city driving of course...

Captncarb....yeah, I know what you mean....the best I ever got from almost pure highway was 18 mpg. I guess the quattro really drags the mileage down. To put into perspective, my BMW 530i with only RWD average about 14.3l/110km (16.5 mpg). So I guess with these big heavy cars, you have to pay the price at the pump....
I just felt that the A6 should be doing better than what I got for gas mileage, at least equal to the bimmer.

Nothing is wrong with your car, I have just tweaked my tune to maximize perfromance as well as fuel savings. It is a near perfect split of highway and short city trips, Highway alone I see closer to 700km
