====>> Need Help urgent~~~~!!!! Empty fuel tank=> engine damaged
Hey guys,
Sorry i am foreigner so I may have some bad solecism.
Today i drove my car until the gas gone, and i went to the gas station pump the gas after that immediately, but the engine was shaking(engine check light went to flashing) a lot, the wet air came out from tail pipe. I opened the engine hood felt engine was so hot and some screw(connect with rubber tube, under engine) was burned red.
I have a 2002 A6 3.0. So I have some urgent question, please please kindly answer:
1.How bad is the car.(I am scare to turn on the engine again)
2.Which parts are damaged?
3.How much is cost to fix the car? any way to solve it cheaper?(i lived in CA san bernardino, don't know where should i fix it)
4.What should i do first?
If you have any any advice, please let me know!!!
appreciate~~~~~

It should not be that bad. I would say worst case would be only a fuel pump replacement. Having the car run with that gas in it now should be okay but get it scanned first and the check engine light decoded. Go to like auto zone if you do not have a vag-com get the codes read and post them on here also try to get them cleared.

I got the CODE from Autozone, So please give me some advice:
1. P0056 HO2 22 heater circuit malfunction
2.P0301 Misfire Deteceted (Cylinder 1)
3. P0304 Misfire Deteceted (Cylinder 4)
4.P0161 O2 sensor heater Fault (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
5.P0431 Catalyst efficiency low-bank 2
6.P0300 Misfire Deteceted (Random Misfire Detected)
7.P0160 O2 sensor CKT Inactive (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

OK after reviewing the codes that your engine threw it looks as though your O2 sensor on bank 2 is fried. The random misfire and misfire codes would definitely be attributed to running the tank dry. Having run the engine dry you may have forced the engine into an extremely lean operating condition, thus internally shorting the heater portion of the O2 sensor. The other codes are all related to the O2 sensor not working I.E. cat effiency code 0431 and 0160. P0056 code is actually an O2 sensor code as well = bank 2 sensor 2 O2 sensor, heater fault. Replace the applicable O2 sensor and clear DTC's. This most likely solve your issue. Again the specific O2 sensor which needs replacing appears to be Bank 2 Sensor 2, or the rear sensor. Good luck keep us posted.
