Default question about pig tails

Hi,
i don't know how i can remove the pig tails from the head light switch connector.
i found out so far that you have to lift this little plastic stopper but the pig
tail won't come off.

Need help

Thanks

I had the same problem when I upgraded my stock halogens to aftermarket HIDs with Angel Eyes. You pull the plastic tab up with a flathead screwdriver and theoretically the pigtail should disconnect. However there was so much dirt buildup that it was difficult to remove. You just need to use the necessary force to pull the pigtail from the headlight. Sounds easy but it might not be. Don't use too much force as replacing the female connector on the pigtail is costly. It is an Audi only piece and requires a special tool to remove and replace.

Hmmmm.....if I get it right, it's not only to lift up this plastic stopper ?
I'm scared to rip off the cable and this pig tail is still sitting in the connector.
Is there a second pin somewhere on the tail who keeps it in position ?

Most likely it's seized in there with dirt and debris. All you need is to lift up the plastic tab with a flathead screwdriver and wiggle the female connector back and forth. Do not break that plastic tab otherwise you have to replace the entire female connector, which is what I ended up doing. My passenger-side headlight wasn't too bad but the driver-side was stuck on there and I pried it until it came free, but I ended up wrecking the female connector. I can't remember what I paid for a new one but I had to get an Audi tech to reinstall it for me as it requires special tools. If you have an air compressor and a blow gun that might help remove some of the debris that has it stuck together. But yes, there is only one plastic tab securing the entire female connector to the headlight.

It'll come off. It probably has never come off from the factory, which is the same case I was in. It just needs to be wiggled out gently. Be sure to clean everything before you put it back together.
