New Audi owner and have a question
Hey guy's, I'm new to both this forum and the Audi world (although I have dreamn't for years). I recently picked up a 2000 2.7t auto with front end damage (hood and bumper) for a good price. I ripped off the bumper today and found the left inter-cooler covered in what looks like oil and dirt, and I mean caked on there. I felt my stomach drop as I know service to the turbo/inter-cooler is gunna be pricey even with me doing the re+re.
My question is what are my chances of both components still being operational after a thorough cleaning, and I mean molly maid clean. With the front of the inter-cooler being virtually clogged would this have made the turbo run hotter even if the aux water-pump was functioning perfectly? Any help/comment is appreciated. Sal. |

Re: New Audi owner and have a question
The turbos tend to push oil into the lower intercooler pipes, if you are seeing oil/dirt on the outside of the intercooler, I would guess it was compromised in the front end collision.
I would make yourself a pressure tester and check the entire air charge system for leaks. If you need intercoolers, they are a dime a dozen for stock units, heck I think I have 2 sets in the basement I would not be concerned about a small (couple oz's) of oil in the intake track |
