Need Advice!
I live in Georgia.. Can anyone give me an general ideal about how much it is going to cost to replace timing belt (only) for 2000 Audi 2.8 Quattro. I just had a major tune up done with spark plugs, wires etc...I understand can be costly.

Re: Need Advice!
Conservative guess - $1,000.00 - don't skimp on this service - waterpump, tensioner and the accessory belt as well! Find a good indie mechanic that knows the product and it should be done in a day! Several suppliers sell kits with everything all included - Blau, ECS and posibly your local dealer too.

Re: Need Advice!
i agree, this is not one of those things you count your pennies on... do the water pump for sure...

Re: Need Advice!
timing belt actually costs close to $1100.

Re: Need Advice!
i had our done last spring for $1200 with all the extras (pump, tensor, etc), having said that the labour rate was only $80/hr now it's $95/hr. I did not have it done at the dealer.

I'm an Audi Service Consultant, here's what it'll cost: The Water Pump is done at the same time is because it is the same amount of labour. (Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.) The water pump is the least of the costs anyway. (Waterpump & Thermostat + Gaskets) This is based on an actual quote for a 1999 A6, however, this is Canadian Dollar pricing rounded up to the nearest $5.00 BELT $85.00 ROLLER $105.00 TENSIONER $115.00 COOLANT $25.00 DAMPER $215.00 + WATERPUMP $100.00 THERMOSTAT $40.00 and EXTRAS like SEALS & GASKETS, etc. TOTALING ABOUT $10 to $15 PLUS about 6 to 7 hours labour. Hope this helps... |

Re: Need Advice!
I thought he asked how much it will cost to replace timing belt. He said he already had the tune up done.
I changed my timing belt in my Land Rover and in the A4 and it took me around 20 minutes. |
