How do I get rid of the governor?
Hey everyone,
I recently bought a 2001 audi a6 2.7t. Loving it!! I was just wondering how does one 'remove' the governor. I also want to set the car back to its Euro standards, which I've heard will also get rid of the governor. How does one go about doing this or getting this done? Do I have to buy a new chip (which one?). Or should I get someone to modify my current chip? Thanks |
Re: How do I get rid of the governor?
Its more than just a chip or programming, why do you need the governor removed? Nowhere that you can drive legally that fast, plus your car is governed at 245km/h

Re: How do I get rid of the governor?
Really? Governed at 245km/h? I've read a few articles saying the governor is placed at 205 km/h. Where did you find your information?

Re: How do I get rid of the governor?
The governor in Europe is set to 250 Km/h for all major Brands except Porsche, of course.
The maximum speed for the 2.7T with 250HP is 247km/h, no governor needed. The reason for this agreement was , maybe still is, the tire issue. Maybe the changed it but if you order a brand new car you can order it without the governor for a extra $$$$. i have a 2.7T too and i know that my car is going at least 225 Km/h. Saskatchewan roads are nice, sometimes. Cheers |

Thanks everyone!
I hit 200 km/h and I guess I panicked and didn't go any faster. At least now I know I can :P. |

Re: How do I get rid of the governor?
Custom ECU flashing will do it, but it requires the use of a dyno to properly do it. Not very shops are competent enough to do such work. And if you think Saskatchewan has fantastic roads, you should come out here to British Columbia. See you on the twisties! :)
