1999 A6 Avant Alternator Replacement

1999 A6 Avant Alternator Replacement
I had to replace the Alternator in my A6. Power is good but in order to keep it running I must press the gas. Mechanic seems to think I need a code to reset the computer so it will idle. Any suggestions??

Did you check the battery at the same time you replaced the alternator? It, or some other part of the charging circuit, may have been damaged by a bad alternator.
