Help!....Transmission in Auxillary Mode

To start off.....New Audi Owner...New to Forum

Bought a 96' A6 Avanti Quattro with an Automatic this past March
It had a really bad wheel bearing (which I originally thought was just Brake pads and discs) Replaced Wheel Bearing, Right cv shaft assembly (noticed torn boot) tie rod end, new used tires and new brakes and pads.
Noticed that the bad wheel bearing caused the wheel speed sensor to wear?!?

Ran well drove well except for a vibration in the right suspensions when driven over 60 mph.

Next round
New struts, strut bearings and bushings. New control arm on the right side and Control Arm Bushings on the left.
Could have done this a little differently, But I broke the wheel sensor on the left side when I tried to remove the sensor.

Anyhow, the transmission is now stuck in 3rd Gear

Had a local shop (for Imports) read the trouble codes and referred me to a
Had a transmission shop take it for a test drive. (They appear to gladly accept my money)

The codes: Left wheel speed sensor, right speed sensor, another wheel speed code and a turn signal out.

Would the broken Wheel speed sensors trigger the Transmission auxiliary mode?

Haven’t gone out and got the wheel sensors yet. Did a trans fluid filter change to see if it would make a difference? Still no luck.

Any similar situations out there?

The codes: Left wheel speed sensor, right speed sensor, another wheel speed code and a turn signal out.

The Actual Codes pulled by local import reair shop:

#00285 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor
#00283 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor
#00597 Wheel Speed Impuls Deviation too Large
#00526 Brake Switch Signal

(I bet the #00597 Wheel Speed Impulse Deviation is what causing the transmission to switch to limp mode)

I have wheel sensors on order

Problem solved!!

Took 3 weeks to get the wheel speed sensors. (I could have got them sooner, But I patiently waited because I got them at a ridiculously low price)

(3 weeks of driving back streets to in a glorified 4000 pound Go-Cart)

They were a bear to remove the old aluminum protective cases in the strut towers. But were easy to install.

And the transmission is back to its old self.

It was explained to me that the computer has to read at least 3 wheels going the same speed; otherwise the vehicle will slip into "Safe" mode
