Just food for thought, wondering if a engine swap on my 1997 S6 with the 2.2L turbo would accept a 4.2L V8? Just wanted to know if it would go without any major reconstruction? Would I need a new tranny, or any other major parts.

Which 4.2L are you referring to? The 32-valve that actually came in the C4 S6? I don't know about this specific swap, but I would be very surprised if the engine's weren't drop-in in either car. You'd probably need the tranny for that application, or at least a bell housing, but you can swap all sorts of crazy stuff across VAG's platforms. Without even knowing, I'd bet money that no real fabrication will be required - usually the engine mounts and subframes just bolt right up.

But why not just mod the 2.2T? Or find another car, and sell me your S6 for a Winter car
