Winter tire recommendation?

Re: Winter tire recommendation?
Great tire, ground clearance is the only limited factor, and even then, I've plowed some streets with my undercarriage dragging. Not ideal, but I got through where the softroader SUVs couldn't.

The Nokian Hakka R's are on my Subaru right now and we've also got a set on the wife's Subaru. They're great in powder and slush. My Subaru is a couple inches off the ground so its pretty much a snow plow in the back alley and I've never even been close to getting stuck in the deep stuff. As for ice, they're about as good as any other non-studded winter tire that I've driven.
Yes, its not a performance tire on dry pavement, but that's not what its meant for. I never noticed them being "squirmy" in the size I had them (225/45/17)
Here's a couple of shots from yesterday and the nice snow storm we had in Calgary.
No problems!
