Is the 2009 Audi 4 premium for 8% off MSRP a good deal?

My A4 is still on order (Feb. arrival now) - but when I asked about the block heater they said it was included. Maybe I better double check.....
I was told the same thing that the block heaterwas included.
I told the dealer that I need a solution or at least get some sort of refund (from the preparation cost)

I got a called from the dealer couple of days ago and they found the solution , they will be installing a circulating block heater, early in January.

They told me I would be the first one to get one installed.

Hopefully this will help for your delivery in February.

How did you manage to get 8% off?

I thought there was only 8% profit in the cars.....that would mean you got it for cost!!

The standard charge for Frieght and PDI in the GTA is $1,695. Plus Air tax $100, gas tax $75, Admin and Etching ~$400-$450.

Can you tell me how much you actually paid in total including? I am planning to buy one in the coming weeks.

PDI charges seem to be scaled to the value of the car in my opinion. You want a more expensive car then you have to pay more PDI. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to shipping costs. I bought a brand new Honda Ridgeline in Las Vegas 2 years ago and shipping charges were $650. Now in Winnipeg, MB they were almost $1900. Figure that one out seeing as Ridgelines are assembled in Ontario and our dollar was at .93 cents US!!! PDI's are pretty much the same on any car from a Civic right up to a Lambo. They simply take off all the protective coverings (probably more on a Lambo than a Civic so this might take longer and justify some more cost), top up all fluids such as coolant, etc. Install block heaters in our region, activate stereo equipment such as navi, road test car to make sure everything is in order, and detail for new owner.

Doc fees are where they can often get you. Doc fees are simply just another cash grab and away to give another guy a job. There is usually always one guy you go talk to once you decide to purchase a car and he is the one that trys to get you to buy all the extras such as extended warranties, rust proofing, etc. This fee was only invented in the last 5-10 years. Used to be that a salesman could write up a sales agreement and try to sell you all these added features. Now apparently someone else has to do that. So far I have never had to pay this fee as a stipulation to the sale. They usually still charge me this fee, but then remove it from the price of car. This is all discussed after the negotiation on the actual price of the car has been completed.

What did I pay? I had ordered my A4 Premium back in October 2008 and was given the price below (basically MSRP). I was told to expect a Dec/Jan delivery date, but that date was delayed to Feb 2009 (or later).

Because of the delay, I decided to cancel the order and wait for MY2010. The dealers inabilty to deliver as promised as well as the pending inclusion of the G3 MMI/Navi in MY2010 as well as no proven block heater system - meant delaying by several more months to get a 2010 A4 made sense to me.

Here's the price my dealer was insisting on for a 2009, including the ripoff "Documentation Fee" mentioned in another post.

Based on some of the information I've seen, I now realize these prices aren't very competitive (other Audi dealers have offered much better, but competing brands such as a MB C350 or BMW 328 xDrive are now cheaper as well). I will definitely be more diligent when negotiating for the 2010 A4:

Audi A4 2009

Model 2.0T Quatro Premium Tiptronic - 8K2P6L $45,000
PTC Technology Package $2,200
PNK Navigation Package $3,500
Audi drive select $2,500
Rear air bags $500
Stereo upgrade $1,100
Total $54,800
discount (0%) $0
Freight / PDI $1,995
Air tax $100
Tire Tax $20
Documentation fee $199
Total $57,114
GST+PST (5%+5%) $5,711
Extended warranty $2,132

Grand Total $64,957
