Speed indicator not accurate?

Speed indicator not accurate?
2013 A4 Quattro with 17" tires. I'm sure my speed indicator is overly optimistic. My estimate is the speed it indicates is 10%+ higher than the actual speed I'm going to. I haven't tested it yet but planning on doing so next weekend. Has anybody ever noticed this and tested the accuracy of the speed indicator?

Re: Speed indicator not accurate?
Normal - Audi speedos are factory set to read 5-10% higher than actual.
Both my B6 & B7 behave this way.
You can confirm using an external GPS; probably saves them from a host of lawsuits and other customer complaints.

Re: Speed indicator not accurate?
I would tend to agree, I always thought my speedo was reading faster then i was actually going (compared to the reading on my Garmin GPS).
I am glad its not just me, and others notice it too!

Re: Speed indicator not accurate?
At 120 kph indicated on the speedo, a timed by Tachymeter kilometer and my GPS both agree I'm actually doing 118 kph. That equates to an approx. 2% error.
