Outrageous Lease % Rates

Outrageous Lease % Rates
Is it me, or are Audi lease rates (3.9% / 4.1%) slightly outrageous? I currently have a Lexus, and the rate for a fully loaded Rx350 is only 2.9%... I checked today and they are still 2.9%
What's the deal on that?
Has anyone been able to get a lower rate on a 48 lease?
The extra precentage points adds a substantial amount to the cost calculations compared to other brands.

Re: Outrageous Lease % Rates
Lease rates are set monthly by Audi Canada. They look at rates from BMW & MB and are competitive. An Lexus RX 350 is not viewed as a competitive vehicle to the A4. Lexus has also seen a drop of 12% in sales YTD compared to 2010. They are also losing market share. Audi's increase is 16% YTD with increasing market share. If price is sole critera for leasing a vehicle then there are lots other choices. Customer's lease or buy an Audi because they believe they get good value and want an Audi.

Re: Outrageous Lease % Rates
Thanks a lot, even without the return customer rebate, 2.4% is certainly better than 4.1% - heh, probably gonna get an Audi no matter what anyway... Had 2 golfs and then an A4, tried Japanese (Lexus, nice but I miss Audi big time.

Re: Outrageous Lease % Rates
it's you
the rates are set to what the market will bear. Audi is having NO TROUBLE leasing cars right now, so the rates are working just fine. They do what they need to do/want to do. You have to just deal with it. Typical car loans are at prime to prime +/- 0.50% to 1.0%. a.k.a. right around the same rate.
p.s. since when did 4% become 'outrageous' and worthy of an angry thread on an internet forum?

Re: Outrageous Lease % Rates
Thanks for the constructive information. Finally ordered a A4 Avant Premium Plus S-line, and got a rate of 3.09% along with winter tires as a bonus. Was able to able bring down the rate from 4.4% by putting in a refundable security deposit of $9000...
With the stock market the way it is, safest bet around lol.

$9000 refundable security deposit - make sure you understand your contract and will get that full amount back, in the event your car unfortunately has an accident and is written off. Conventional wisdom is to never put any significant deposit on a leased vehicle.
My 2c worth.

Re: Outrageous Lease % Rates
Did that with the Lexus I have now, $5000 security deposit to lower the interest. Getting it back when I return it next month, no clause about accidents. The percentage difference is worth about $200 per payment - well worth it.
