Oil burning?

So I am close to changing out my 330 for a S4 but this Oil Burning issue is bugging me - Seeing lots of posts saying this is normal for Audi and "just carry a quart in your trunk". This BS doesnt interest me in a new car. How real is this Oil Burning issue?
