that's exactly what I did second time I took it in. It worked cause the first time they said it was normal, then when I asked to drive another one they said they would change the clutch master cylinder.

Picked it up Thursday, told them I was on my way, not waiting any longer. Clutch cylinder not changed as they didn't have the tool. trunk fixed, mmi upgrade done, changed the windshield to fix the faulty mirror, first time I adjusted it before I left, it fell off again. I am hot!

I'd be on the phone with Audi of Canada with regards to the shoddy service you're receiving from Crosby Audi.

They didn't have the proper tool to work on your Audi at their Audi dealership? Wow...

I'll bet I've got something out in the garage that would work in lieu of an OE tool.

I had similar problem when depressing clutch pedal in 2006 B7 A4. It was making cracking/clicking noise that started to drive me nuts.
When I got the car in May 2010 it was still under warranty so I ask Toronto Downtown Audi to look into this problem.
I was told that the clicking noise is coming from the clutch itself and they need to remove the clutch to look inside. I would be on a hook for almost $1000 labor charge because clutches are not covered by warranty.
Usual dealer tactics when they do not want to do anything to help. They scare you away by humongous possible cost...

Later on I got this diagram (see attached ), removed lower cover under dashboard (the one that holds owner's manual) - easy a few bolts, and sprayed some Pro Honda White Lithium Greese around plastic clutch pedal pivot points and inside the opening of cluth master cylinder (# 19 on diagram) where metal push-rod is going.
I also sprayed some WD40 in the same areas... I am not sure which chemical did the job but clicking noise disappeared in 15 to 20 minutes The pedal was smooth and silent and I was so happy. It really makes me feel like car even drives better .

Give it a shot and perhaps it'll work for you as well.
Also, there is a clutch master cylinder on ebay for $20 (should be same for B8 since it fits 2009): eBay item 120667749226 .. audi part # 8E1721401AJ

not to sound mean but you said you have a 70k investment? a car isnt an investment.

also, i dont know how you guys can deal with dealerships, i understand warrenty work, but for the most part, dealerships are horrible places to get work done at. most of the special tools car companies have can be replaced with other tools. the dealership is feeding you bullshit left and right.
