What the hell.
Mine doesn't say those at all. Here's mine.

Re: B&O Question - Check Discrepancy in MMI
You won't get the enhanced DSP direction since your signal to B&O is analog not digital.
Found an article with this blurb to explain:
"Second, digital audio transport on MMI/navigation cars. At first this may not sound significant, but buyers selecting the B&O audio option have reported differences between cars that have one of the radios compared to cars with the MMI/navigation. B&O comes with a different amplifier depending on whether or not the car has the MOST data transport. On cars without MMI/navigation, audio from the radio in the front is transmitted analogically (radio is in line-out mode) to the B&O amplifier in the trunk, on cars with MMI/navigation this transportation is done digitally using the MOST bus. Thus MMI/navigation cars are able to offer some additional user-options for the B&O amplifier like some extra surround processing that are not present on cars without MMI/navigation. Some users have also reported inferior sound quality on cars without MMI/navigation, which might be explained by the analogue line-out audio transport instead of going all digital over MOST. "

Boo. Now I'm really tempted to retrofit the 2010 nav into my car. I'm not sure it's worth the $3-5k investment though. But if it'll improve sound, on top of the nicer nav system....

Where did you get the idea that you would be able to retrofit the 3G MMI NAV into '09 B8's for that kind of money? I'm guessing that install would be more costly than you think. On top of the enhanced hardware (to support 3D graphics) the wiring harnesses/runs would be completely new (especially on your car) and the B&O amp is different (yours has an analog I/O and NAV cars have digital). After all that you still wouldn't have the colour trip display to support the turn-by-turn or the backup camera. You would be better off selling your car and getting a 2010 with everything built-in.
IMHO.

Re: B&O Question - Check Discrepancy in MMI
I spoke to a dealership once about the idea. They quoted me something around $4k (with labor) to upgrade to 09 2G Nav. Since the amount of new tech needed to be installed is probably about the same (new MOST, computer system, etc etc), I'm guessing $5. Ok, so maybe $3k is optimistic - but there's potential that the new system is actually simpler because eveyrthing is now unified under the one box, instead of a DVD player over here, a Nav system there, an AMI in the glove, etc.
But I see what you mean, I might as well upgrade to a 2010. Or better yet, 2010 S4.

I wish I had known this before... AH!
Has anyone heard an actual sound difference between the digital and analog? The analog is amazing. I'm getting goosebumps thinking about what the digital must sound like!
Someone make me feel better and tell me they sound exactly the same.
