I am in talks with a law office in Ottawa willing to open a Canada wide class action case against Audi Canada for Oil burning or consumption.

Audi of America has recently settled in a class action suit with our southern neighbours (USA) to the tune of over 23 million dollars. Even covering the cost of previous engine work done to Audi engines at Audi dealerships.

The issue, as many of you know, lies in the piston rings being incorrect from the factory. Audi has known this since 2008. It is a world wide problem
There is a new design for piston rings, pistons, and connecting rods for the CAEB engine.

If you have a CAEB 2.0 engine burning oil , 1 liter per 1000kms - give or take.
If you paid out of pocket for the oil consumption test part 1 or 2 you could also be reimbursed. Please contact me through audi forum.ca, if you want more info.

I have many links as well as the legal documents for the case that closed this past October 2014.

I am helping the law office build a plaintiff list. This is a class action suit with hundred or potentially thousands of plaintiffs, there will be no upfront cost to anyone, just information sent to the law office, not to me.
To fins out if your engine is the CAEB you can call your local dealer with your VIN#.

I will happily pass you the information of the law office, or vice versa, I am happy to act as a middle man.
Many of us have been living with this problem for far too long. We paid a premium for the Audi name and its heritage and its far time Audi correct this issue.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Hi Nick,

I have a 2010 audi a4 sline which is now actually at Audi Lauzon in Laval. Oil issues for 2 years and now guess what? Needs a new engine... And the folks at Audi won't cover the $6000 repairs saying it was something else which causedcall 6 pistons to bend.... I guess this sounds familiar?

What can I do to help and what advice to you have for me?

By the way, there a judgement against Audi Canada and Audi Lauzon in Quebec small claims for the cost of replacing the engine and oil test 1 and 2.... Not sure if you know about it.... Judge directly makes references to the USA court and Quebec consumer laws...

Thanks

Vince

'Audi China Changchun Plant' ... I guess Audi should be cheaper than KIA.

I have a 2010 Audi A4. I have had the oil problem and have had engine work done twice (5 days in the shop for each repair). Audi has covered it so far but who knows if the fix will work this time. I also have the letter extending my warranty to 8 years total. Audi dealer has also been very good about topping up for free since we purchased the car.

So, do you still want me to sign up for the class action?

Also, given that we don't let the oil get below 1 litre down, do you think the engine will last another 5 years and 80,000 km ?

I have just purchases a 2011 A 5 Cabriolet with 28K on it. I absolutely love the car. I found out thru another owner about the oil consumption. I have done a lot of research and finally got to Audi Canada. pleased that they have given me a warranty to 2019 or 130000 kms. the electronic oil gauge is down slightly after 2000 kms. Does it have to be near the bottom range before you top up? If it is down that low , how much oil will it take? what is excessive consumption? One dealer told me 1 litre per 2200kms is normal... comments? Can an audi dealer do a test to determine if this CAEB engine is an issue. I don't really fancy carrying around a case of oil!!!! any advice or answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated. regards Peter

Hi there

I have an audi A5 2011 I purchased the vehicle at approximately 108kms and noticed that it started burning more oil than what I was used to. I went into audi Midtown and had an oil consumption test done. It went through stage 1 where pvc vent crankcase etc.. was changed.

Stage 2 happened and then told me that it failed. My car was burning 0.7/1000km and was suggested I have pistons/rings changed. They then told me I was not qualified for stage 2 because in there service history records the previous owner missed 2 oil changes.

I feel at a disadvantage because it is a known issue and tried hounding down Audi Canada to help me out. I just bought this car and I knew nothing about a class action lawsuit. This is ridiculous as the brand itself should be known for engineering and quality.

They then told me if I provide them with proof of the missing oil changes that I could possibly get it done under there extended warranty which is up to 130km. (currently at 111)

It is impossible to reach the previous owner due to privacy laws. So Im stuck with an Audi A5 which I bought used at 108k now counting down the days till my oil consumption extension runs out. Please help its ridiculous they are telling me that they wont proceed with stage 2 because of missed oil changes which the previous owner probably did by himself at a jiffy or mr lube.. I hope to hear from you please contact me or email me even patjosramfer@gmail.com

I NEED STAGE 2 done before 130k

Include me in this lawsuit-

Hi,
I just found out about this. My 2011 A4 quattro (original owner) requires the oil be refilled up every 3 months. I average about 1600km/month which I find too high from the day I drove it off the lot.

How do I get in touch with you to find out more about this?

whyaudi.... I had the same issue. I got the dealer I am using for service to contact the dealer where the car was originally bought and they obtained the service records. I also talked to the original selling dealer and they were willing to transfer records to another Audi dealer. hope this helps.
