Ayenj,
I was able to obtain every service record, which was performed by the dealer, and forwarded off to the Audi Canada service rep. I called and pleaded my case with all my documentation. I did have a service rep at another dealer tell me about their CAP, Corporate Assistance Program. Even though my car was 10 months past warranty expiry date, it was 30,000 km below the maximum of 130,000km. I was well armed with documentation I obtained online. I spoke clear and concise with the rep, assured him I could have bought another competitors car, but I wanted the Audi brand. I was able to do the same thing for my Dad's BMW last year as well, but that's another story. I got them to cover 80% of his blown engine.

The service advisor says he has never seen such a complication, and suggests it is unrelated to the repair, just a coincidence, but won't know for sure until he tears into it (the tranny). I am suspicious, but saw nothing on this forum about this complication developing. Thoughts??
JBS, are you sure it was your transmission leaking? Mine is at the dealer now getting a full rebuild. I am paying the extra cost. I am having my rear crank seal replaced as well. Also getting the chain guides and tensioner so replaced. I had the tech remove the torque converter and visually inspect the the imput shaft seal. The tech said he has never seen an imput seal leak. Unless someone was very rough with the torque converter hard to say. Let me know. Thanks

Hello,
I am a new member with a 2010 A5 2.0T CAEB engine. At 120,000km I am experiencing excessive oil consumption. I have been going through the posts on this thread, and I would like to know if there is indeed a class action lawsuit in the works and if so who I can contact to add my name and details to the list of dissatisfied owners. Is it still the original poster (maiorino09) or another contact? I've noticed a few links in this thread to sites regarding a class action suit, but the links are no longer active. My apologies if I have somehow missed this critical info in the threads. Thanks in advance for your help with this.

Hi PSB,
Your car being a 2010 model with 120,000 km should still be under warranty. Warranty has been extended to 8 years 130,000 km. You need to take to the dealer for the stage 1 oil consumption test and repairs and have it documented. Make sure you obtain the complete service history for the vehicle. If the dealer is no help, you can try a different dealer. Also, you should call Audi Canada and politely complain like I did. My car was 10 months past warranty expiration but was only 100,000 km. They covered 75% under the Audi Corporate Assistance Program. Good luck and keep me posted.

Thanks Apraiserguy1. I will follow the process outlined in your email and in the Audi letter I received regarding the 8 year/130,000 extended warranty. Also, I did have a recall for the stage 1 oil test and that was done at Audi dealer over 5 years ago and passed. I wasn't even aware there was a class level problem at that time. At that time they also updated the PCV system (I hear there is now another new update). Now starting to burn a little over .5L/1000km, so getting to that stage, but also getting close to end of extended warranty. I may have issues as I have had the ECU tuned, and performance exhaust (tho we all know that is not the root of the problem). But it was a STaSIS tune & exhaust that was done by the dealer on my new car back when Audi&STaSIS were working together to offer performance enhancements that did not void the warranty. That relationship only lasted a few years. I'll check in with the dealer and see what's what. I have not gone to them in a while as they have moved further away and also can be quite expensive for some repairs, so I have elected to have them done at a local European car performance shop (clutch; flywheel; rear main seal; timing chain, cover, and seals). *** I guess the main thing I am looking for though, is info on the class action suit Is it happening? Is there a place to register? Or does the advent of the extended warranty the result of early efforts by members like you, maiorino09, etc?

I am in talks with a law office in Ottawa willing to open a Canada wide class action case against Audi Canada for Oil burning or consumption.

Audi of America has recently settled in a class action suit with our southern neighbours (USA) to the tune of over 23 million dollars. Even covering the cost of previous engine work done to Audi engines at Audi dealerships.

The issue, as many of you know, lies in the piston rings being incorrect from the factory. Audi has known this since 2008. It is a world wide problem
There is a new design for piston rings, pistons, and connecting rods for the CAEB engine.

If you have a CAEB 2.0 engine burning oil , 1 liter per 1000kms - give or take.
If you paid out of pocket for the oil consumption test part 1 or 2 you could also be reimbursed. Please contact me through audi forum.ca, if you want more info.

I have many links as well as the legal documents for the case that closed this past October 2014.

I am helping the law office build a plaintiff list. This is a class action suit with hundred or potentially thousands of plaintiffs, there will be no upfront cost to anyone, just information sent to the law office, not to me.
To fins out if your engine is the CAEB you can call your local dealer with your VIN#.

I will happily pass you the information of the law office, or vice versa, I am happy to act as a middle man.
Many of us have been living with this problem for far too long. We paid a premium for the Audi name and its heritage and its far time Audi correct this issue.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello, I have a Q5 2.0T FSI and am having major problems with it. Oil consumption like crazy over the last year and now severe engine problems. Expecting mechanic to tell me engine overhaul needed. Any assistance that you can provide me would be most appreciated.

Maybe we start art a new class action law suit because no one seems to be able to reply in regards to this matter and went to several mechanics and they telling me they don’t want to touch my A6 saying the cost is not worth the repair
basically my 2009 Audi A6 3.0 TFSI is garbage

Bought a 09 Avant, private sale in May. Basically jumped at it as I love the wagon and this on only had 45,000 kms. Got an oil change at Audi right away. Shortly after looked at the MMI and saw the oil was down to about a quarter. Service Foreman told me to come in, they topped it and tagged the engine. Today about a month and a half later and 1450 kms later the "Add 1 Litre of oil- you may continue driving" comes on. Dealer says I am out of luck. Hard to believe a car with that low KMS can have this happen. I have a hodge podge of maintenance records. Wish I investigated this car more.

The foreman mentioned I should call Audi Canada. Being that I am apparently out of any good will timeline does anyone think I have a leg to stand on?

Hi Chia, you need to contact Audi Canada. Call your local dealer for the all the service records. If you contact Audi Canada and provide them with proof of ownership, they will give you the dealers the car was serviced at. Then contact those dealers and they will give you the full service records. Review them and send to your Audi Canada rep. I noticed you are from Vancouver, I found Capilano and Downtown Audi very helpful. Let me know if you any further assistance.
