Exclamation Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

Hi, I am having oil consumption problems with my B8 A4 Avant 2.0T. I bought it used from a dealer in Toronto last August. They said the oil was changed prior to the sale and I was really surprised when I got the stop engine and check oil level only after driving for month or so. I have put in 3 to 4 liters since then and have only put on about 2000km. I am not used to buying oil by the jug! I am getting a little snake-bitten because I have a 2011 Jetta TDI too. I also found out that the warranty extension expired last October but I think it had a limit of 130K. How do I get involved?

Thank you kindly,
Gord Smith

Angry Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

I have a 2009 A4 Quattro, 2.0T, 104,633kms. Engine is stock, and driven in "Auto" mode mostly, with "Dynamic" no more than 5% of the time. This is the family car.
Always used Mobile 1, with change at 5,000kms + filter. K&N air filter.
Have done all maintenance myself. Of course never thinking there would be OIL CONSUMPTION problems, not all receipts have been kept.
HIGH CONSUMPTION started @ the 85k point approximately.

1 litre added when Low Oil sensor sounds & lights up.

Shortest distance travelled before 1 litre added was 447kms, best distance travelled was 807kms. Mostly though, 1 litre added at the 620-675kms.

Speed sensor set at 140kph, and sounds rarely...mostly when passing another vehicle.

Audi Canada is no help!

Any movement on a Class Action?

PS..My other cars, a '09 BMW 135i, with COBB tune, etc, 378bhp, and yup, no oil consumption issues. Oil/filter/Mobile 1, and normal maintenance, all done myself as with Audi. So which German car will I buy next time? Another BMW, or maybe a Merc, BUT NEVER AGAIN WILL AN AUDI SIT IN MY DRIVEWAY! Oh yeah, my modded 306bhp 2004 SRT4 with 160K+ consumes 1 litre of Mobile 1 every 2000kms, but I do drive it VERY HARD.

Greetings,

My mother purchased an a4 Quattro 2009 2.0TFSI in 2008 from the audi dealership in downtown Toronto, and has been having issues with needing to top up the oil very frequently since the purchase. The dealership has been misleading my mother about the issue with her vehicle, telling her that it is normal. She has been complaining to the dealership endlessly for years since purchasing the car.

In 2015, the dealership did a test, and my mother was asked to write down and track how often the low oil blinker came on. She tracked and wrote down how often in KM she had to come in (approximately every 2000km) and in the end, she was told the test went well, that everything was okay, and that it's normal. That she just had to come in every ~2000km to top up her oil.

At the end of last year, she really got fed up and insisted the dealership run an oil consumption test on her car. This time, the test was failed, and the dealership finally admitted there is a problem with the car. They said the car consumed oil at 0.803ml per 1000km. Now they want my mother to pay $7000 to repair the issue (labour included) after the warranty just ended on the car. The warranty just ended 2 months ago (in April 2017), and she only has driven only 80K KM on the car.

She recently told me about this, and I did some research online and found out this was a common problem, and audi had settled lawsuits, and admitted this problem with similar cars. With this knowledge, we called the dealership to complain, asking why they mislead her saying everything was normal with the car, with full knowledge that it clearly wasn't. Why had nobody mentioned anything or brought this to her attention, after she has been perpetually complaining since buying the car in 2008?

In the end, they offered to cover only 66% of the repair costs, but we don't see any reason why they shouldn't cover it fully. We have paperwork from the times she was at the dealership, and how frequently she had to come in, and of her complaints.

Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction about what could be done about this? It's really ridiculous and unacceptable that the dealership seems to have been exploiting my mothers ignorance and misleading her for so many years whilst having knowledge of this issue with their cars!

Thank you!

Hi
I own a 2012 Audi Q5 2.0T, have been having issues with oil consumption in the past year.
and today the motor died! 112,000km on the truck and it now requires the motor to be changed - $7000 est. cost.
i bought it brand new in the US while I was living there and have since moved back to Canada, bringing it with me.
Would you have any reccomendation for a recourse against AUDI?
Thank you so much!
Sophie

Hi, I purchased a 2009 Audi A4 2.0T 2 weeks ago Aug. 8,2017. Warranty start date Sept. 29, 2008. My car just turned 100,000 km. CAEB engine. Driving the car home from lot 50 km away, oil light came on. I added a litre of oil. Proceeded to drive the car for a few days of long drives, the oil light came back on after 518 km. I contacted Audi Canada and proceeded to study problems on line. Audi suggested I obtain the full service which I from 2 local Audi dealers. Also they suggested I take the car in to the dealer and do an oil change so they can document the oil level. They checked oil level for free of charge and sent me on my way. After reviewing the service history, I discovered the car had the stage 1 warranty procedure completed at 43,000 km in 2012.
What the chances do I have with Audi to pay for all or partial repairs to rectify this problem. The dealer said I would have to fight Audi corp. myself. Is the class action still proceeding? I would appreciate any help or advice anyone has to offer. Thanks

1st, the good news is that my Audi paid for new pistons, rings, etc. after my 2011 A4 with 100k km flunked its oil consumption test. The bad news is that when it came back after a week in the shop, the transmission is leaking. The service advisor says he has never seen such a complication, and suggests it is unrelated to the repair, just a coincidence, but won't know for sure until he tears into it (the tranny). I am suspicious, but saw nothing on this forum about this complication developing. Thoughts??

Hi JBS, thanks for the heads up. Audi has agreed to pay for 75% of the piston upgrade on my 2009. My car is 10 months past the warranty but 30,000 km under the max. Gives me something to look out for as mine goes in for the work in 10 days. They told me 2 weeks to do the engine. They will also give a car for the 2 weeks free of charge. My thoughts for problem if they anything with the crankshaft and backed off any of the crank bolts it could have disturbed one of the main seals, either front or back. Or it could be the crank oil separator, mine was replaced previously. Your car still should have warranty 8 years 130,000 km. let me know what happens with Audi.

Hey mate, just curious how did you get them to agree to covering 75% of the costs? They only agreed to cover 50% of my mothers cost...

My car has the 2.0 CAEB 4 cylinder engine. I was able to obtain the full service records from the dealers. It had the stage 1 oil consumption test. I called Audi and pleaded my case. If you have the 3.0 V6 I don't know the policy on that one. I don't know if the class action lawsuit is still happening. Audi covered mine under their CAP, or Corporate Assistance Policy. I would like to know how you make out. Good luck
