I apologize if it has been discussed before. I am on the fence for buying an A4 or S4.

With the current 2011 Canadian pricing, the incremental costs between a base S4 and an A4 S-Line is only $6,900 on a 50K car. So for $6,900, you gets 333HP V6T, bigger brakes, quad exhausts, different instrumentation cluster and chrome mirror trims. It occurs to me that it makes sense to make the jump to the S4.

A4 Premium S-Line 6 Spd: $43,600 + $3,000 = $46,600
S4 base 6 Spd + 19" wheels: $52,500 +$1,000 = $53,500 (S4 base has the same features as the A4 Premium, add the 19" wheels to match the S-Line package).
Difference: $6,900

The gap is even smaller if you consider only the difference in depreciation over 4 years or so ~ $3.5K. I see the costs of ownership are virtually identical except for fuel consumption. The only thing is there is no corporate promotion on S4's but only on A4's.

Is my logic flawed?

Your logic is not flawed, in fact, that is probably the main reason why we're selling so many S4s compared to say the B7 platform. I say go for it!
