A4 2.0T Gas Consumption. What is yours?

Re: A4 2.0T Gas Consumption. What is yours?
I've got about 27k on mine now, commuting daily from downtown Toronto to north end of Mississauga, driving probably 70/30 highway/city (although "highway" in the GTA is a bit of a misnomer sometimes!), my consumption is like this:
- heavy rush hour - 8.5-9 L/100km
-lightish traffic - 6.9 - 8 L/100km
Also, haven't reset my #2 computer in a while so over the last 7,000km or so I've averaged 8.3 L/100km.
I try not to drive like a jackass, but sometimes it happens.

Try driving it harder honestly. Mine is a manual and I find if I'm too light on the pedal or stay in a gear that it reccomends me, acceleration can be sluggish and gives me worse economy then getting up to speed quickly and then crusing. Use that turbo!

Whatever the mileage might be on my A4 (still waiting for it) it certainly has to be better than what i am getting now with my RX 350. i
I fill that sucker up with 65l and i barely get 450km out of it, even now after 4 years and on the spot maintenance.

Yeah, I live downtown, so when I go out driving, i'm normally on one of the freeways pretty quick to go for a cruise. Otherwise, random trips to the store and such are included in that. I'd say about 100km of normal city traffic with lights etc at 50-60km/hr and then another 150km of freeway with lights, so some stop and go at around 70-80km/hr. The rest of that tank was "highway" cruising on the new Henday looping around edmonton at 100-120km/hr. Also on my winter tires which are 17" and not 19" like my summer tires.

Km ----- Liters ----- L/100km ----- Date ----- Gas Used
330 ----- 38.2 ----- 11.58 ----- 7-Nov ----- Shell 91
417 ----- 46.7 ----- 11.20 ----- 14-Nov ----- Shell 91
148 ----- 20.0 ----- 13.51 ----- 21-Nov ----- Shell 91
32.7 ----- 03.6 ----- 11.01 ----- 21-Nov ----- Shell 91
435 ----- 48.7 ----- 11.19 ----- 9-Dec ----- Shell 91
Again i'm constantly hitting 11L/100KM. I just switched to winter tires, lets see how BAD this is going to get...
Why is this car so BAD on gas.

Re: A4 2.0T Gas Consumption. What is yours?
Bought my 2012 A4 Avant in October and tracked every tank the same way by taking the liters from the fill and dividing by the Km. City driving I am getting 13.7 L / 100 Km and on a road trip in November the best on the highway was 10.2 L / 100 Km. I have 3400 Km on the car and I am not happy with the economy.
I phoned the dealership and spoke with one of their senior service advisors and he indicated the following: with colder weather the car will consume more fuel (average temp so far here has been about 4 to 5 C), the engine will take about 10,000 Km to break in, high consumption from short trips can be expected since the engine will run rich for the first few minutes.
I admit that the first few tanks I was a bit heavy on the gas pedal and rewarded with a 15.9 L/100 Km economy but since then I have been extra light on the gas and still only able to get 13 - 14 L / 100 Km. I have always monitored my cars' fuel economy this way for the past 15 years and will continue with my new Audi.
With very careful driving and putting the car in neutral (auto transmission) at stops I was able to achieve a 12.5 L / 100 Km economy, but this is a one off so far. As for the neutral thing this was something my wife noticed while watching the instantaneous fuel economy indicator which shows 1.5 l / hr while in gear and stopped and 1.2 L / hr when in neutral.

Re: A4 2.0T Gas Consumption. What is yours?
I am able to get it down to 0.8L/Hr when I'm not moving and engine is warm.
A/C off and in N, A/C off in P I'm at .9-1.1L/Hr.
What I've noticed is I get a bit better mileage when I don't over baby it. If I'm in the city on a 50 zone, from a complete stop I would let the brake till the car starts rolling and accelerate keeping the RPM between 2000-3000 rpm and the instantaneous gas millage around 20L/100km. When I reach 55-60 I would let the gas pedal go and the instantaneous gas millage drops to Zero as the transmission disengages. If you dont let the gas pedal go from above ~2000 rpm the transmission won't disengage and you remain at 4-5L/Hr and get more resistance.
I've also noticed using Shell V-power I get the best gas millage.

Re: A4 2.0T Gas Consumption. What is yours?
I hope your consumption gets better but I really do not understand why everyone is talking so much about it.
Audi A4s are relatively heavy 4-wheel drive luxury cars with a turbo engine - fuel economy was about the last thing on my mind why I got the car. Having good fuel economy is great, but I dont think that it should be used against the car or the company.
I mean, that's like getting a Corvette and complaining about the lack of luggage space.

Audi A4 2009 has specs at 21/27 mpg city/highway = 11/8.7 L/100km
http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/ov...=Audi&model=A4
We are getting 16/12 L/100km with babying the car. That is why. 30% difference while driving very conservatively and if we drive it normally we get much worse.
If you look here the average is 23 mpg
http://www.fuelly.com/car/audi/a4%20quattro/2009 which is 10.2L/100km. If I was getting that, I'd be content but I'm getting worse which leads me to believe that there is something wrong. Diff transmission, bad sensor, bad alignment, etc etc
