Thinking of buying 2009 afraid of oil issues
Hi all,
first time poster here,
looking hard at buying a 2009 A4 avant with 91 000km on it. I got the service history, and it seems like the services were done a bit late...all between 15 000 and 18 000km...From the service sheet, the car doesn't seem to be burning excessive oil...Extended warranty valid until april 2015...do you guys think that the way it was maintained could cause this oil burning issue to appear?
THanks,
Max

I suggest contacting the dealer where the car was serviced and the warranty work was performed and look into the Service History for any record of oil consumption. If it had a problem, it would already be evident. Good Luck.
^ find out from the dealer if any issue was reported previously and went through testing.
If not, I'd try get them to do it before buying it, or you can go by my route of just buying it anyways because it's an awesome car lol
I had to deal with it myself after buying it, and eventually get her 4 new pistons in - all billed to warranty so zero dollar spent.
Car runs fine now

buy it, extended warranty will cover the piston replacement anyways. takes 2 days, but they will give you a car rental. you will not regret it.
^I agree.
Initially, I was afraid to upgrade from my 6.5 years old honda civic because of maintenance cost, finance cost, and fuel cost.
I was saving so much money with the civic basically, and it was hard to let that go.
But when I made up my mind and pulled the trigger... it was a world of difference.
Just so much more fun to drive, so much more comfortable, so much more pleasing to look at it...
Now I'm not saving nearly as much as I used to, but it is totally worth it, and I'm actually sinking in more money for mods and upgrades...lol

Hi. I bought my A4 '09 at 80k km mark before a year without looking at any service records which I admit was my mistake. However, I've never experienced any sorts of problem in my car. I just go with scheduled oil changes and services and thats it.
Maybe the previous owner took care of it.
I bought mine at 70k km and noticed the issue immediately
All is well under Audi Canada's support tho
