I am considering getting a 2008 A4 Quattro Convertible. I went to see it on Sunday and noticed there seems to be two issues that made me concerned.

First, some rust was forming near the wheels and under the lights. Is this something that is normal? How much do you think it would cost to get this fixed? Sadly the rust seems to show up at random spots around the car, it's not just isolated to one area so I assume it's not a simple task.

Also, they did say that some mice had gotten under the hood at some point and chewed up some of the coverings. Another warning sign?

don't buy! there will be other opportunities to buy. I have had cars with rust had them painted and rust keeps coming back.

 

Early rust and mice? Sounds like neglect and poor storage. Keep shopping...

 

That looks like surface rust which will always be the case where damaged paint has not been touched up.. someone not caring about their car at all... Audi have a 12 year rust warranty but only if it rusts out from the inside. Not surface rust. Determine which it is.. if you can poke through with a pic it is from the inside.
