Picked up a 2012 A4 - have found that the automatic wipers are not as automatic as they should be - even after been back to the garage they changed the switch on the lever - then told me that the automatic sensor will only work when the lights are on ( not on auto !!!) this is the case. Has anyone come across this before.
Also noticed that when there is a spray from a lorry or similar - the automatic wipers do not kick in
anyone had this issue - is there a solution

I have a 08 a4 s line and the headlights are always on the auto setting. the rain sensing wipers work in this mode...hope this helps
