I'm excited to buy my first Audi A4 2012, but I was wondering i you guys could help me with some decision-making a bit. The Audi dealership is offering me an audi certified pre-owned warranty for $2000. I'm not sure whether to take it or not because I heard that most things that need a repair are wear and tear sort of things, which are often not covered by this warranty. What is probably the most common thing being replaced on Audi's? Should I got with this warranty or not?

If it is an extension of the factory warranty, it is quite tempting. I chose to decline the extended warranty coverage at purchase. Four years from now, I'll regret it, but I just couldn't justify shelling out that much money (it was more than $2k) to cover a problem that doesn't currently exist! I'd rather keep that cash and sock it away in some drawer for the day when I do have a costly repair that comes after my warranty expires. But, I totally see why some people go for it. It makes Audi ownership more "comfortable" for some people. There's no definitive answer to your question, the way I see it.

 

What is the current mileage on the car?

 

Congrats on the new toy. I'd purchased a 2 year-old 2003 A4 from the dealer (Certified Pre-Owned) and paid for that warranty. I forget how many years/km it added but it came in useful and was worth it as several repairs became necessary (repairs aren't cheap on Audi, unless you have a reliable independant shop lined-up). To estimate odds of repairs/which repairs/cost if you want to play the odds check out the Consumer Reports website for common repairs on your specific model/year. Hope this helps.

 

a certified pre owned audi should come with a 2 yr extended warranty..6yr total.up to 160k as part of the deal...but don't forget it has a 4yr factory warranty.

 

It's worth it. I purchased it myself and had the pistons and rings done on the car under warranty. Would of cost me almost $4k.

New to the forum and new to Audi. I just bought a 2012 Audi A4 S-Line Quattro 2 days ago from a VW dealership. Pretty much fell in love with the car as soon as I saw it. (Maybe that was the problem...)

Because Audi can be costly to repair, I bought the extended warranty that the dealer was offering, which they said would kick in after the original factory warranty ends (in 1.5 years). But after reading through the contract today, I realized it is effective from the date of purchase, so it overlaps the factory warranty and I lose 1.5 years of the extended warranty. Good thing is that I can still cancel it within the first 30 days of purchase.

My question is: what kind of extended warranty have you guys bought (I heard Audi Care or Audi After Care)? My extended warranty is through a 3rd party, which after reading a few forums doesn't sound like a good idea. I'd like to hear from everybody's experiences.
