Advance Key issues with 2010 A4
 

Hello to all fellow A4 owners!

I bought a 2010 A4 (complete with the Premium plus and Technology packages) a couple of weeks ago. It came with the push button start and was the dealership advertised it as having the Audi Advance Key. I can start the car by just pressing the button but I cannot unlock the doors without pressing the remote control. Just using my hand on the handle doesn't work. I bought my car at an Audi dealership and I went in on Friday and had my salesman show me how it worked. He couldn't get it to work either and said that I must not have that feature. He couldn't explain why.

Are there two different models of Advance Key? One that only starts the car with the remote in your pocket (and you have to press the remote to unlock/lock) and another that allows you to do everything when the remote is in your pocket??

I do have the key fob that looks like the Advance Key, from all the pics I can find online (although I'm not sure there is any other style fob for this car).

I'm suprised that no one knew the answer to this:( Anyway, the service manager wrote me an email saying that they replaced a door handle just before I bought the car and it should absolutely work. The start button doesn't come with out the door locks working via proximity. Its a complete system she said. When I researched this on other Audi sites, I found posts saying that when one door handle fails, they all won't work and my service manager confirmed that that was in fact true.

Anyway, just some interesting info for those of you with Advance Key should all the handles suddenly stop working.
