Default stock bluetooth vs ipod

Hi guys,

Just bought a 2006 3.2 A4 with a bluetooth connectivity.
It is perfectly working with my windows phone but my ipod do not recognize any signal from the car!

Do you have tricks for me? (already tried to shut the bluetooth off on the ipod before starting the engine, then turning it on but it still doesn't work)

thanks!

Hi, The Ipod touch has a bluetooth function. I've never tried with an Iphone but a Blackberry phone is also working. I don't understand why my Ipod is not able to connect with the car... any guess?

Are you hoping to connect your iPod Touch for Bluetooth music streaming? The Bluetooth connectivity in your car will only work with a phone for handsfree telephone communication. The car likely doesn't recognize your iPod at all because it doesn't have any other Bluetooth function, including music streaming.

yes that's my purpose. I'm sure there's not a lot to do to make it work. Do you think that an expert in car audio could by pass this configuration to add the music stream via bluetooth?

Is there any particular reason you want it to be BT? There's a number of great wired iPod adapters out there that will give you better sound quality, keep your iPod charged and even allow you control from the steering wheel and DIS. BT streaming will kill your iPod battery in no time and the sound quality is reminiscent of AM radio. If you haven't experienced it, I suggest going to a local VW dealer and trying it out in one of their cars. Most of the Comfortline or Highline VW's have BT music streaming.

Actually I use the BT all the time with my ipod and a little adapter that I connect on my 5.1 at home and it works perfectly (seriously the sound is as good as the sound I get when i plug my ipod onto the sound system with a jack adapter). So I thought I'd get the same satisfaction in the car and I also imagined it free because the car is already equipped with a bluetooth function. I know it's about 400$ for a cable integration in an audi dealer and I was looking for something cheaper.
I don't know if I can trust someone else than audi to do it properly... and for less $$!
what do you think?

The OEM Audi iPod adapter has very limited capabilities for what it's worth. For about half that price you can get something much better...

Thank you Tony for your time, I'll take a look on the adapter's market and I'll tell you my choice!

Check out the Dension Gateway 100. Works great and includes song name on the driver display. I purchased it along with the required ipod cable from enfig.com for $200. USD. Here's a link for you: Dension GW16AC1 Gateway 100 Audi12 Pin

BTW, enfig provides great service (after sale) and I've purchase several different ipod adapters from them in the past few years ...

Cheers !
