Default shifter button sticking

sorry for the incorrect terminology
just got my 1999.5 a4 tiptronic back from body shop and when putting the car into park the button does not come out. r n and d the button comes out successively more and then sticks more and more going into 4 3 and 2. this has never happened befire and ive been the only driver of the car for over 3 years. does anyone have any idea what this might be?

sorry forgot to mention some old lady rear ended me [not hard] and it had some paint done on the rear bumper
