It reduces understeer and keeps the car flatter in corners. I believe there are a few options for your B5 (Neuspeed and LLtek come to mind). Frankly, I really didn't notice much of a benefit in my B5 when I installed an LLtek rear bar. In my B6 I went with the H-sports (front and rear sways) and it it was an a noticeable improvement.

You may wish to check your rear bar as I read somewhere that Audi started putting the thicker rear RS4 bars in the B7 S4's ... I haven't yet checked mine though.

My B6 ride with the H-sports was very civil and the "downside" (reduction of suspension independence) was barely noticeable and only when both rear wheels/tires hit the same bump.

I am thinking about installing the rear sway bar myself on my B7 A4. Any word on whether or not it compromises the warranty or the service you receive from your Audi Dealership? Thanks

I'm on my 3rd Audi with an upgraded rear sway (last 2 were front and rear) and the Stealership never even noticed or if they did, never mentionned it. The rule of thumb is that if it can be determined that the modified part caused the problem then warranty will not apply. With thousands of these bars on cars and no failures that I've heard of (other than the known B5 ones), I'd suggest this mod is a safe bet.

Any reasoning behind going with the OE RS4 rear sway (22mm), vs an Hotchkis RS4 (29mm)?

As a previously RWD-exclusive driver prior to my B6, I really want to build up a 60/40 feeling to eliminate the understeer and give it MORE of an oversteer response. so 2 questions:

will the OE RS4 22 mm be stiff enough to acheive this, or should i go with the super-stiff H sport RS4 at 29 mm?

and, does anyone see a problem (ride quality specifically) with putting on an 29mm rear sway without changing the front on a 2002 B6 1.8TQ?

I think that is overkill I heard of guys using it and having a lot more of over steer vs the 22mm RS4 bar!
