I guess I would like to know the answer to this too. Since I am from Montreal... I could really use a good Canadian distributor to avoid duty costs.

its worth it. Different companies like giac, unitronics, apr all have good software.

heres the apr one.

APR Audi A4 B7 2.0T FSI - APR ECU Upgrade

With your 2.0t you end up with 241hp and 292lb-ft torque on 93 octane gas.

Does this actually work though? I have heard mixed opinions from different people regarding it. Is it even worth the price...I mean, I would imagine that it would make my fuel efficiency worse

yes chip tuning on 1.8t and 2.0t work. There is no doubt about that. If you ugrade your injectors as well it really will feel like a different car. They even offer a 100% 30 day money back guarantee if im not mistaken.

best bang for your buck performace wise and it is worth the price. Really that is cheap for what your getting.

Your fuel efficiency will only be worse if you drive harder.

Just wondering why the car doesn't come out of the factory with ECU mapping that gives the higher power if there's no apparent downside? Why does the opportunity exist for aftermarket chipping?

I know Audi needs to allow for different fuel grades but the stock car already adjusts detonation based on fuel grade, couldn't it switch ECU programs dynamically also?

Because how could they possibly sell the 3.2 model, if they could sell the 2.0t for cheaper and have it produce more power and more torque. The 3.2 would probably never sell.

They have to detune it from the factory in order to have two proper models.

More power and boost on the turbo will be harder on the car then if you kept it stock. Thats not rocket science. But lots of people have chipped there 1.8t 2.0t and never had blown turbos or any issues.

The opportunity exists for aftermarket chipping because these cars have turbos. The engine management system once chipped with allow for higher boost from the turbo, giving your more power. Naturally aspirated cars cant get chipped.
