Re: Looking to get into an A4
I just remembered this topic.
I was going to tell you to get a 2.0T. Thank god you did. The 2 litre engine uses about 15% less fuel than the 1.8 litre engine.
Congrats on your beautiful car. Treat her well and she will do the same to you!

Re: Looking to get into an A4
Thanks Nick, yes once I test drove both engines I knew I wanted the 2.0T, plus I think the headlights, tail lights and grill look more modern on the B7. I was thinking of a 3.2 as well, but the used choices out there with a manual transmission are pretty limited. Another advantage of the 2.0T is the wide use in the VW/Audi lineup, makes parts availability better.
Liking the car so far, love the low end torque and the really slick shifting 6 speed. The sport suspension is borderline too stiff for me, great on the expressway but a bit uncomfortable on frost heaved 2 lane roads.

Re: Looking to get into an A4
Oh how I wish my baby was a manual, but Tip-Tronic will have to do for the moment.
I agree with you on the torque. I'm a torquehead, not much of a fan of an untamely amount of horsepower. I like taking off, since I can't seem to go a kilometer without the police keeping an eye on my speed.

Re: Looking to get into an A4
First of all, I'd like to say: Welcome to the Forum!
Now for the A4:
The only major trouble spot is the timing belt that has to be done with every Audi, correct me if I'm wrong, around 80,000 kilometers. Other than that an Audi will probably be one of the best cars you've owned, and i don't mean to brag.

Re: Looking to get into an A4
Congrats on the car! She's gorgeous!
About the timing belt..many will tell you that you should change it at 90-120k kms. Check your manual, there should be a supplementary maintenance memo released in 2008 which mentions that timing belt on 2.0T should be done at 150km or so.
So even if something happens before then, you should be able to go with that memo to Audi Canada and point that out.
