License plate bolt size?

License plate bolt size?
Hi all,
First post here. Just picked up my 2006 A4 S-line today.
The used dealer gave me 4 bolts for the rear license plate. They do not fit.
I phoned the local Audi parts dept. - no help. The rear license plate holder has
4 threaded clips that are very shallow. For now, I used a 1/4 inch SS 3/4 inch bolt spaced with 2 nuts in front of the lic. plate to fasten the plate. So, my question is, what fastener type and size do I use for the rear lic. plate?
By the way the front plate has 2 self-tapping style screws that snug into what feels like a nylon speed nut.
Thanks.

Re: License plate bolt size?
I can't remember exactly, but they are short and metric. I had to get slightly longer ones to put a licence plate cover on. I got socket head (allen key) stainless in something like M8x10

Re: License plate bolt size?
I just recently had my bumper repainted. I am getting a decal made of my license plate. I am done with ugly frames, bolts, etc. I know it is illegal but it will be hardly noticeable. I will post up pics.
