Gas Consumption
I have terrible gas consumption in my 2006 A4 2.0 T, I can’t believe it. the car rated for 33 M/Gal my car make on the HW 16 M/Gal , plus I noticed some vibration when the car idle , and I don’t like the respond to acceleration, I just got the car . Any idea what would be wrong, or what need to be done? Thanks for any help

Re: Gas Consumption
Gas consumption totaly depends on your driving style. Read the manual if you dont know how to switch between the settings / options on your instrument cluster and rate it that way and adjust your driving according to the consumption it is pretty bad in winter time especially

Hey guys,
Some how I agree with both of you, driving habit will affect the gas consumption but in my case it is not I am driving another car twice the size of the engine on the A4 and my driving habit did not change.
Any way for every body’s FYI, I went to the dealer yesterday and I told them about the problem, the gas consumption and the rough run of the engine, they asked me the question I was expecting “did you have any warning light in the dashboard?” I said no they looked at me like I have three heads , so I said can you double check the car, take it for test drive, and scan it. They said ok will do that they were very nice but they trust the engine light more than enough.
After 10 min they came back to me with a big smile saying sir you are absolutely right your air filter has a dead animal , leafs, and not very clean, a lot of dust , and they were wondering for a new car where all of that came from so I remember when I was in NJ I drove a lot in park area and I left the car parked there for long time plus the drive from NJ to Ontario was a long drive, so I was happy that they found some thing.
10 min later they came back with a bigger smile saying sire we found tear in the boost valve diaghram, and that is pretty much will cause HP loss plus engine roughness plus high gas consumption now it's my turn to smile . I was lucky they had the part , and they said they will change it for sure under the warranty.
After that the car came back a life again, drive nice, very smooth, and I will watch the gas again and see, but I am sure it will be improved.
I just wanted to share what happened with every body.
So again guys watch for air filter, and boost valve diaghram it has rubber seal and it is very easy to crack, if the crack is big enough the engine light will come on but in my case it wasn’t that big that’s why the light never come on.
Now I love the car again
