Corrosion Claims - Any insights? B7 A4
Several years ago I had my A4 in for corrosion on the trunk lid and the rear passenger side wheel arch. Everything was fixed at no cost to me and it was a simple and quick process.
Recently I took my car in for more rust issues, this time on the 2 font doors (paint bubbled and broke at the leading edge of the protective door trim pieces, driver side is bad enough the that trim strip is nearly falling off) and minor rust in the wheel arches of both front wings. My claim was submitted and when I heard back I was told that Audi would not cover the wings, however out of "good will" they would cover 70% of the cost of the doors. I was told the cost to repair the doors was $1475, I called the dealer (should have emailed for paper trail) to clarify if the 1475 was my 30% or if i was responsible for 30% of that figure, approx $450. After contacting them I understood my cost would be around 450 (i also did the math and figured that if 1475 was only 30% the repair then the cost to fix just 2 doors would be nearly 5K, I thought this was insanely expensive considering parts should be supplied at cost and labor would have been at a negotiated rate through Audi. )
I agreed to get the doors repaired as I figured my cost would be around $450, however after the work was done I was told my portion of the bill is $1400..I am now having a he said she said fight with the dealer and trying to wrap my head around how it could possibly cost 5 grand to replace 2 door skins.
Anyone else have similar experiences? or have an idea as to what the cost to replace a door skin is? Any advice would be appreciated. I am very frustrated with the inconsistencies in the corrosion warranty, why was is that last time the claim was painless? and why was my friend's 05 passat's trunk and door replaced just a couple months ago with less severe rust than my car and at no cost to him?
Thanks in advance
