Cool information for the B7 Timing Belt
Hey folks,
I was on a road test with a great mechanic at the local dealer here who I always enjoy talking to. Being a very knowledgeable fellow, I had asked him about the design of the timing belt, he shared with me some cool information that makes very little sense to me, but I thought I would share
We all know about the old Audi Timing belt issues, he explained to me that on the 2.0T, the design is like this:
The sprocket at the top is oblong (think of an oval), so during the power stroke, the load is actually taken off of the belt, thus increasing the timing belt service interval...
I just know it's a good design...but anyone know what this means?....
