Default Check Engine Light

I was driving home from work last night and stopped over to pick up some dinner. When I had got back in the car to restart it, the check engine light came on. I drive a 2006 A4 2.0TQ with only 50000 km's. I want to know what would happen if I continued to drive it until Monday to go get it serviced and if I'm able to continue driving it. And maybe perhaps what's wrong with the car? LOL Damn I'm being really paranoid right now, I don't want to be stranded on the side of the street

If it started OK and runs OK you have very little to worry about... have the dealer read the code, and ask them to TELL you what it is: the actual code, and how they fixed it.
Best of luck!

the check engine light comes on as a warning to you that something is not functioning properly. It's sorta like saying "Get help soon". If the car runs fine, then you should be ok to drive it around for a few unless the condition worsens.

The hardcore check engine situation is when the light starts flashing.

also your car goes into "safe mode" and you cant run any boost etc depending on the problem so you do not damage it any further. I would suggest geting your self a vag-com every audi owner should have one ross-tech.com enjoy if you got questions just PM me

Thanks for the help and suggestions everyone! But weird thing was, when I was driving to work this morning the light turned off after about 15 km's. So I'm boggled as to what happened and why the light came on and went off the following day... Hmmmm

maybe it was a temporary problem your car experienced yesterday... bad gas or something minor like that...

don't worry too much it happened to me, i cleared the code with a vag cable

and it hasn't happened yet.. gonna wait a few more days till the dealer is more free so they can fix my car properly

for me it was a low fuel pressure regulator code... something w/ the fuel pump which happens with chipping usually

That's it. It has to click. If it doesn't that might cause the gas tank not be sealed properly. This can lead to improper pressure/vacuum inside your gas tank, which might throw a code.
