Buying New A4, need your help negotiating!

Re: Buying New A4, need your help negotiating!
I dealt with the Royal Oak dealership a week ago on an 09 A3. With out any difficulty I was able to get 4% off MRSP. If I wanted to spend hours in there negotiating then I am sure I could have done better (4.5%-5%), but at that point it is a couple hunderd dollars and my time is worth more than that.
When I started the negotiating I asked them what price they were going to offer me. They replied with the MRSP - the factory incentive. I then asked is that the best you can do? Then came the speal about having to make money and pay for salary's and blah blah blah. (This individual was a step in helper as the guy I had been dealing with was finishing up some paper work with another customer.) I then said mentioned I know that the dealer mark-up is around 8% as I have been looking at Car Cost Canada. He then laughed and said I guess we can do a little better. At this point the fellow that I had dealt with previously had come over. I had mentioned to him that we are willing to make an offer with a dicount of 4% off MRSP. His responce was yes we can do that. The "step-in" guy didn't look all that impressed at quickly accepting a 4% discount, but the younger guy realized if he said yes it was a guarentee sale and we could finish and not drag it out for hours.
If you are interested PM me and I will let you know who I dealt with at Royal Oak. As an individual salesman I thought he was quite good. He didn't try pulling the sob stories or this or that, his was not a traditional "sleazy salesman." At a later date I spoke directly with the General Manager who also seamed like a fairly good guy.
Overall it is a little frusterating in Calgary as both dealers are in the same group, but like I said I was impressed with the one younger fellow that I dealt with at Royal Oak. There were 2 salesman at RO and 1 at Glenmore that I personally would prefer not to deal with.
Hopefully this is helpful for you, and if you are interested send me a Private Message and I will let you konw who I dealt with.
Cheers,
Mike

Re: Buying New A4, need your help negotiating!
Always ask to speak to the sales manager and deal only directly with him. He can give you the best deals and bypass the whiney regular sales joe's. For that car I Think you can get at least $4000 off the MSRP. I just got an A4 with only Premium and got $3000 off, plus free winter mats

Re: Buying New A4, need your help negotiating!
I know a guy who got 4% off MSRP on his A5 and got the rock guard, window tint and all thrown in and a premium service package (whatever that means) at Royal Oak Audi

LOL! Some funny comments here!
So far the best advice was given by mjcyca. I've heard about the dealers in Calgary from other forums and believe me, if you can 4 to 5% off plus the promotional cash, you'll be happy.
