Default Bumper Straps?

Took my car in for 70k service a couple weeks ago and they came back with a list of things that need to be done:
-Fuel injector cleaning $130
-Throttle body cleaning $150
-Brake fluid flush $130
-Rear Bumper straps - broken - needs replacement - $150

The first two I can do myself, the third I'll get done, but what's the fourth?

I looked in the Bentley Service Manual and searched everywhere online but can't find anything! Any help would be appreciated...ideally a part number?

Sounds like you've been to the dealer. I've never heard of bumper straps.

My first mistake was going in. 200 dollars for an oil change!! I bought a vag-com and the service manual the next day and vowed never to go back.

I did email the parts department and they're telling me the straps exist and they're a whopping 10 dollars. Maybe I'll write a DIY if I can find out where they go..

I've been told that likely my "retention clips" or something are broken on my rear bumper - this may be the same thing. In my case there is a real issue though...I was getting a piece of furniture loaded into the trunk and the idiot dropped it the last few inches and that did it.

My symptom is that every time I shut the trunk the bumper rattles. I was told the part is very cheap but gaining access is a few hours labour and I'm not willing to shell out that money for it right now.

All that to say the existence of this part is probably true as well as the fact that it costs a lot in labour to fix.

I'm not sure how difficult it is to remove the rear bumper, but if you're mechanically inclined, you may want to try and do it yourself. Either way, it doesn't sound like something urgent.

I think I will, I have the instructions to remove it and it doesn't seem difficult, maybe a bit time consuming. I just found it odd that there's no mention of this straps in the repair manual..
