Adventurous B7 owner in Edmonton?
i have an issue with my B6 that I believe could be solved by getting together with somebody with a B7.
the short of it is this: i imported my B6 in the USA, and upon recoding to Canadian spec, my door locks stopped working. this happens when i recode my instrument cluster to Canada (KM/h) through vag-com.
in the B7, you can change the values of the cluster in the FIS menu. i purchased a new "color" cluster that is compatible with my RNS-E, and this cluster is actually intended for a B7 (ordered from dealer, part number is correct, its just a newer model) B6 electronics does not allow me access the wiper-stalk menu, so my solution? find an adventurous B7 owner that would allow me to plug my instrument cluster into their car, change the values, then put it back in my own car.
Any takers, or thoughts on my plan?

Put up a scan of the codes from your instrument cluster (module 17). I'd like to see what part number is showing up. Also show me the coding for adaptation channels 19, 61 & 62 if they are available.
Also, do you have the wiper stalk trip computer buttons on your car?

hi thanks for your response:
vag part #: 8E0 290 933 X
channel:
19 = 1911
61 = 1111
62 = 3331
I have the wiper stalk buttons but it doesnt engage the FIS menu. obvious shortcoming of the B6 imo....

Vag Part is similar to mine expect mined ends with an A and yours is X
All the other stuff seems inconsistent with the colour cluster on my B7. Record your settings and then try the following.
I don't know what might happen with a B6. The suggestions are based on what I have with my B7 with a slight adjustment based upon settings I see on my B6 as well.
Module 16 Steering wheel - set to 02041 - indicates multifunction wheel with board computer & cruise
Module 17 Instrument Cluster
Adaptation Channel 19 - 31300 - enables Level 1 & 2 Board Computer
Adaptation Channel 61 - 1+2+256+1024+2048= 3352
Adaptation Channel 62 - 1+16 = 17

Re: Adventurous B7 owner in Edmonton?
hello, thank you, and many apologies for not responding sooner. i tried the coding with no avail. i actually took the car into the dealer, who was also unable to get the door locks working. as the dealer put it, canadian and US a4's both have the same door lock module; however, once the module learns a cluster, they are 'burned' as either american or canadian door modules (something to do with different regulations re: de-safing at different speeds and upon a collision). if i can get new [used] modules, they can be adapted to my car... but for some reason the current modules can't be recoded themselves. i dont buy the explanation per se.... but at least some of it sort of makes sense.
