Default 2008 A4 Turbo engine oil top up issue *URGENT*

Hello everyone,

I have purchased an auto 08 A4T earlier this year and the dealership requires me to go back to top up my engine oil every 1500 Kms as the oil is used by the built in turbo system. Is this statement Correct???

Also there was a time i was driving in my sixth gear and i gased it in order to match the traffic on highway, my car jerked a bit and downshifted autmoatically to second gear by itself, afterthat the whole car shoke so violently which i eventually pulled over to the side and stopped the car.

Is this soemthing normal?

Please advise.

Thanks!

I would phone some other dealers and get some other opinions. Call Audi Canada if need be.

Turbo engines will burn a small amount of oil but how much are they "topping off" every 1500km? That definitely doesn't sound normal at all...

agreed -
however it is not uncommon for the PCV system to malfunction and allow too much exhaust blowby +oil back into the intake - also during the break-in period of a new engine, there is more blowby so this could be *somewhat* normal, but should be barely noticeable on the dipstick.

My A3 has doen the same thing twice, gn, I was wondering the same thing? Gunned it and it totally downshifted to 3rd... I had to respond quickly, but for those who aren't watching, I could totally understand the "violent shaking / pull over" thing....

Oil shouldn't need topping up every 1500 km but is something I would check on a regular basis (every 2-4 weeks anyway) until you really understand what oil consumption your particular car has. I have 16,000 km on mine, checked it regularly and not had to add any yet other than the 5000 km oil change from the dealer. Allowing the car to go through a proper warm-up phase before driving hard has been my driving style.

Re the downshifting, are you guys actually actuating the kick down mechanism for the auto transmission. That would certainly lead to a pretty sudden gear change. My suggestion would be to drive a little smoother and build up a few more revs before actuating that last kick down action. BTW my car is manual and downshifting for quick acceleration is lots of fun

TBH, i've never heard of the dealer asking the customer to do this for a newish car.
