2006 A4 Snow Tire Help.
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum. I just bought a 2006 A4 quattro 2.0T. It has the 17" double spoke rims on it. I want to get a set of snows for the winter, as this winter is starting out bad, and I want to keep the rims in good shape. I am located in T.O. and was hoping to find some used rims & tires. I called the dealership to see what they had to offer, and they dont offer a steel wheel option.
My question is can you run steel wheels with snow tires on a 2006? Will a 2002-2005 steel wheel fit on a 2006? I am looking at some used 16"rims and tires. ( i doubt the 15" rims will fit.)
I was hoping someone might know, so I dont waste a lot of time trying on different rims to see if they fit.
Thanks,
Brian

Re: 2006 A4 Snow Tire Help.
I have a 2007 A4 Quattro 2.0 and after trying 3 sets of steel rims (16 inches), none of them fitted (the problem is the large brake calipers in the front). Even, if these rims were listed as fitting the 2007 A4 on the manufacturers' lists. I finally had to buy Audi aluminium rims at approx. 200$ each. You can try to find some steel rims, but I do not think that they will fit on a 2006.

Re: 2006 A4 Snow Tire Help.
I have an 05 TT and use steel rims 16" as the factory rims are 17s. I would follow the dealers recommendation for fit. You could check your spare it may be a lesser size which would mean a smaller rim would fit. The owners manual sometimes refers to other sizes as well. There are several ways to check in addition to the above. I would try a performance shop as well.

Thanks for the input. It seems like alloys are probably my only option.
The more tire shops I call, the more it seems like it.
Anyone know where to get some cheap 16" alloys in the Toronto area?
Thanks,
Brian
