2006 A4 2.0T Avant with 110K
Hi everybody
I'd just like to know how many of you have kept their A4 after 100k and how did it turn out? Expenses through the roof or satisfied with the reliability?
I am having the timing belt and water pump changed this week... but then what should I expect?
I was thinkng about selling it to go for the new S4 but I like my car. Could build up some cash for later on and keep this one if I get good feedback.
My mechanic says I'm in for plenty of expenses... to what extent?
Thanks All!

I thought timing belt change was at around 140k no? Anyway... Mine has turned out to cost me a pretty penny but it is my own fault.
Had the front bumper get stuck on one of those parking stall dividers so when I pulled out it almost tore right off. That is going to cost me, plus I have a couple of rock chips on the paint that are going to need to be repainted. Add to that someone scratching my door at a local parking lot and you see where I am coming from
However I love my car and I get easily attached so I can see myself keeping it for a long time. I'm already planning to tune it this summer and I will def dish out the cash to repair all of those things mentioned above.
But if I was planning on maybe getting the new S4?.............thats another story

I got 160k on mine. No major problems that had to be fixed right away, just necessary. Back shocks were leaking, front bushing were cracked, power steering pump needs replacing, replaced the steering rack. Thats because the last owner treated the car like absolute dog ****. Ran the pump dry, floored it & revved when cold etc.

If you think maintaining the 2.0T or 3.0 30V engine is expensive then be ready to dump even more money in maintaining an S4.
I have 103,000km on my A4 2.0T Avant and everything checks out to be perfect. I'll be doing the waterpump, timing belt, tensioners and upper/lower rad hose on my own.

Mine has 141000kms now. Still going strong. Just had 145000 kms scheduled maintenance at dealer. They said all was good. All maintenance hs been done since new and I think thats the key. Cant really speak for anyone elses car but mine still runs like new.
Not sure how much help this is but whatever

Timing belt, waterpump and tensioner on both 4 Cylinder and 6 Cylinder Audi engines should be replaced at no more than 120,000km. Some do it at 100,000km just to be safe. Usually it's the tensioner that will fail, as belt failure is rare. Either way, if any part of that fails and these engines being valve/piston interference engines will lead to castastrophic damage.

Around 122,000 right now. Still running good. Odd misfire here or there, but only within the first few minutes after a cold start (did have the intake valves cleaned almost a year ago and did the timing belt and water pump at the same time). PCV and latest DV replaced a long time ago also. Car's been pretty reliable ever since the warranty expired.
Did just get the oil changed today at Independent Tuning, noticed the dipstick was showing the oil at the minimum level (last oil change was about 8,000 km ago). Don't recall it eating this much oil in the past, maybe it was due to the colder temps, will have to keep an eye on it. Oh, get your fuel filter replaced also if it's high mileage, the fuel coming out of the filter (on the tank side) was pretty brown.

Misfires, a CEL actually only gets triggered after it reaches a certain threshold. When my intake valves were gummed up, I had the rosstech tool running and monitoring the misfires on all cylinders. The CEL didn't get triggered until a certain threshold. The counter would clear if the engine had zero load for a certain amount of time (a matter of a couple seconds actually).
