Question Stuck rear calliper? how do I fix it?

Anyone encountered a stuck rear calliper before?

The passenger side, rear calliper on my B5 appears to be stuck.
Symptoms:
As I let go of the hand brake, the car doesn't wanna roll. It takes more throttle than usual to get the car rolling. The hand brake cable engages only after i've pulled it about 2-3 inches up.

I thought maybe the hand brake cable has stretched or something.. and needs to be adjusted.

I put the car on jackstands and rolled the rear tires by hand.....only the driver side rolls. The passenger side is stuck.

I'm gonna take the wheels and callipers off to see if I can do anything about it.

Any input is appreciated.

Thumbs up Re: Stuck rear calliper? how do I fix it?

Never mind. I found the problem and fixed it.

Turns out that the spring-loaded bracket that sits on the back of the calliper was seizing up and needed some WD-40 to free it loose again.

The hand brake lever went back to normal.
