Reprogram key fob from another Audi

Hey All, so a friend just returned his leased 2007 A4.
He forgot to give them his extra fob, and knowing that I have a 2006 A4...he gave it to me.
Can this be re-programmed so that I can use it?
I also need to have a new blade cut.

What are my options?

THANKS!

I have heard of people reprogramming B7 keys for their B6 cars. I know it can be done so if you find out be sure to post up a DIY on it.

Well its a 2006 so it is a B7 already Mike. B6 line ended at 2005.5, Yes it can be reprogrammed however the immobilizer needz to be reprogremmed then the key, as far as I remember you can just order the metal piece and swap it out to get the new key cut. Be careful as some dealers will not cut a key unless it was purchased from Audi and you have a receipt as some metals tend to harm their machines.

1Move, can the IMMO be programmed via vagcom or only at the dealer? I have a new to me keyfob that I'm getting the key cut, and the dealer is talking about $100-140 for programming the IMMO up here in Edmonton.

Yes and No. Sorry not trying to be a smart ass but, if you know what you are doing some of them can be programmed. I come to edmonton fairly often, might be able to program it for you, As long as you have the key fob code.

And where would I get the keyfob code? I was thinking about coming down to the Calgary meetup next week, so that would save you a trip.

Well the Immo. has a code which needs to be programed in, you need that code

Presumably the dealerships don't just hand that code out either, I'm guessing.
