Questions about my car (!)

So I bought this 2005.5 A4 in May... it's among the first of the B7s, it's a sedan with the manual gearbox and Quattro, and it has the sport option with the 17" wheels. However I'm having some trouble finding much information about the sport option package online, which is becoming an issue because I like to take it out on the track and I'm at the point where I'm pretty sure I want to upgrade the brakes soon-ish. At the end of a 25-minute session they whistle pretty loudly when I come to a stop.

The question is, what size rotors would I be looking for? I don't want to change the wheels, the 17" tires provide a very good ride and I wouldn't want to spoil it by going to lower-profile 18s. Also what are the opinions here about the eternal "slotted vs. drilled" issue?

Re: Questions about my car (!)

well drilled rotors are more likely to warp...your best option...and this is the way the majority of the guys have went, is hawk break pads and zimmerman rotors. You can find everything on Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels

Last year i went to the hawk race pads and zimmerman rotors..not slotted or drilled...and it made a huge difference. With you tracking the car, you may want to look at the slotted, just make sure you get the track race pads. On daily driving they will probably squeek though, only down side because they are ment to be hot as hell to work best.

Hope that helps!

This must be a US car, since we never had a 2005.5 A4.

The sports pkg availabe in the B7 didn't inlcude any different brakes in the car. It is suspension only and 18" wheels with the sline pkg.

he may have been told that it was a sports package and not actulay been givin a sports package. We did have 2005.5 cars in canada though.

el_topo- look in your spare tire well, there is a sticker there with all the codes of what is on that car. Also, just to make sure, your car is a B7 body style? or does yours look like the B6?...

Re: Questions about my car (!)

It's definitely a B7 with the sports package. It is nominally a 2006 but from the warranty papers it was originally sold in early June 2005, that's why I called it a 2005.5

Part of the problem is that there doesn't seem to be any information out there about what the sports package included for non-current cars. I know the suspension is different from the standard model (the sway bars are a little larger), it has auto-leveling Xenon headlights and larger wheels (17" vs. 16"), but I can't seem to find any relevant information beyond that by doing a search online.

We didn't. The B7 A4 ran form 2006 to 2008.

PlanetVAG.com - VW & Audi PR Code Search

If you can find all your option codes form the label in the trunk area, you can use the link above to get a description of the factory options that were confgured for you car. That should give you lots of info on the options your car was ordered with.
