I tried doing a search, and couldn't find anything, maybe I'm searching the wrong keywords, or maybe I'm the only one that's this is happening to.

Here's my car info 2006 A4 (B7) 2.0T with 6 speed manual tran.

Here's what's happening:

While driving, I find sometime when i step on the gas really hard, the car automatically will down shift the car. For example I'll be in 4th gear, doing maybe 60 khm or so, and then decided to step on the gas to make a pass, without shifting, and find that the car will shift automatically for me. This same thing happens to me when driving on the highway, in 6th gear maybe doing 110khm and when i go to pass i step on it a little more, the car down shift and then shift back.

Keep in mind i'm not talking about the shift stick moving it self, it's as if the car recognize that i should be in a lower gear or something.

Is this common? or something to be concern about?

This is the most bizzare post I've seen. Are you saying that you have a 6-spd manual (i.e. 3 pedals on the floor), that automatically downshifts?? I can't even imagine how this is possible.

 

Hahah I swear to you that's what it feels like! i know it sounds bizzare, i'd have to take you for a ride to show you, I'm hoping someone else is experiencing this!

 

Are you sure you don't just have a slipping clutch. I.E. You hit the gas and the revs rise but the speed pretty much stays the and slowly climbs to match the revs?

 

Maybe that's what it is. But I could be in 6th gear doing 110khm, and then when hit the gas harder rpm rises, and the car picks up the speed then the rpm drops again.
I wouldn't say the car slowly climbs, it really picks up the speed as if i switch to 5th

 

Do the revs rise faster than the car picks up speed? I'm not 100% sure but I think you have a clutch problem. How many k's are on your car?

 

yes, it does. it has 140,000kms. So it maybe a clutch issue?? FML don't need another car issue. just replaced my motor in my honda civic, cost an arm and a leg already

 

Sorry to hear that buddy. Audi repairs are a little pricey. Do you know a good mechanic? With 140k's the clutch makes sense.
