Hi all..I'm new to the forum and a proud new owner of a 2008 A4 s-line quatro 2.0T. lots of questions but can we start with this....has any one used tha K&N air filter in these cars ...better worse ??? performance /fuel economy ...WARRANTY ???? also how do i know if i have a B7 or B8...BTW..love the car...should have done it yrs ago

yours is a b7 a4, i have the k and n air filter in my b7 a4, no noticable difference in any aspect really, they claim theyre produce more horse power / improve fuel economy.. if they do, its such a small difference that its insignificant.. if you were to switch to a k and n cone air filter, thats when youll notice the difference, youll hear a bit of a blow off sound thats not as loud as if you were to actually install a bov. i wouldnt suggest throwing a cone filter in your car though because space is limited, and youd be eliminating the piping for your cabin filter, lots of ppl put in carbino kits

 

I like the K&N filters. If you plan to keep your car for some time. Instead of spending $40 every six months for a new air filter (that is for a C5 A6) a K&N regular filter was a little more than $100. The cleaner kit is only $15, lasts about 5 cleanings. So it is worth it dollar wise for maintenance.

I have a cold air intake with cone on my A6, the only thing I noticed is turbo sound.

K&N warrenty is awesome. I have a Chev truck and I got a cold air kit for that, the tube cracked from filter to intake. i called them thinking I had to buy a replacement. the rep at K&N said its free and they will pay for the shipping. Awesome.

 

Be sure not to over oil it!

 

If you really are serious about increased performance, best bang for buck is to spend the money on a chip tune - search for Revo/APR/GIAC/Unitronic; tons of info around on that upgrade.
