The GPS is calculating your speed and your speedometer is measuring it.
Its not going to be the same.
I say your speedometer is correct until a cop tells you otherwise.
Save it as an excuse for speeding.

Are you running stock size tires?

Do not sweat the slight variances in in speed readings: it could be influenced by many factors! As long as it is not WAY OFF it is OK.
GPS is a calculated speed and depending on the device's latency can be off as well...
However, as mentioned in the thread, the one way to get an accurate reading is from a cop... and that is not a good way!

Keep in mind your variance rate and drive accordingly.

no it seems to be true with all the audi's. I have paced several friends and my car is ALWAYS 5-7 more then what they are doing. I have also done this with an A6 and A8. all the same thing...all stock. mine was the only one that was lowered and that should not play a part in the spedo.

at least this way it saves me 5km/h on my tickets i guess.

that is exactly what is happening with 2006 A4 I have 17" wheels though i don't know if I used 16" will adjust for the speedo or not but I am not too happy with that any way. I have other car and the speedo is exactly like the GPS I wasn't expecting that from an expensive car like Audi

I am not complaining if its going any faster Good excuse to get out from a ticket. I offered the cop to drive my car and he let me go but did not take my car for a spin awesome and a half I think its a good thing

If your speedo is out far enough, the police here can insist your speedo be tested at your cost before they will revoke a ticket. Even then, if your clocked over the limit by say 15KM/hr and your speedo is confirmed to be over by 5KM/hr, they will still ticket you for 10km/hr and you had to pay for the test.

As whoace said, confirm your tires outer diameter are stock size. Not sure about some models but the B5 S4 speedo will accept an offset to read correctly to compensate for diff sized tires.
