Fuel gauge acting wierd
My fuel gauge topped showing full tank , it is always showing ¾ even though I know the tank is full , this is something new, just wondering if anyone had similar problem with the fuel gauge? And is it adjustment or a cluster defect
When this happened to me, the whole cluster was replaced. Not sure what it cost as my vehicle was under warranty at the time. Make sure they re-calibrate the sending units in the tank when they replace the cluster.
if you change the cluster, do you rest the KM reading or it will pick up the old reading?
Occasionally it's the contacts on the sending unit that just need cleaning, but it's usually the actual fuel gauge in the cluster - VAG is notorious for bad cluster parts. If you're out of warranty you might want to skip a new >$1K cluster from the dealer, and get it repaired by Module Masters (or a similar company).
The odometer info is stored in the cluster, but the dealer can program the new one to match.

Won't pretend to know much more than what I was just told over the phone, but local dealership who did repair under CPO said it was just a matter of cleaning/calibrating one of the sending units in the fuel tank.
Q: I always wondered if the fuel gage is calibrated accordingly, what I mean is, does 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 marks are correct - in all my other cars I drove in my life, nether analog or digital gage was accurate... any idea?
